If I jump; if I fall; if I’m pushed; if I stumble; if I slip, who?  Will I carry a parachute; will a trampoline suddenly appear or a net; will someone back me or reach out a hand?  Just because I make it look easy… Discounting my parenting, wife-ing, housekeeping, autistic corralling, calming, soothing, shrinking, coaching, hostess-ing, teaching … helps not.  Words hold the power to provide the net and the parachute and the trampoline and the hand.  Give me words.  Give me that gift.  Tell me I can.  Tell me I am.  Tell me I will.  Catch. Me.

..............................

Let me gift you the words I need to hear and you may too: you are enough. You do enough, you say enough, you – are a prize, a gem, and someone’s parachute. Not everything needs to be perfect. Often, better wins over pristine. Little by little, keep moving. Travel through the pain, the dark nights, the long days. Forward: the quintessential piece of the puzzle.

I hear you. I feel you. When it hurts so bad you wonder how you don’t burst; fighting tears, no more tears, or ugly crying…you feel alone. Even when someone is physically present with you, it’s your brain that’s on fire. You wonder if that pit will ever subside or if the hole mimics that tree-hole with a permanent rut in your yard. Take a dare and stay with the feeling. Turning off will only stall the misery; passing through it – the one and only way to the other side. Maybe joy isn’t there waiting, but what if it is? Or even a mild peace worth the doggie-paddle? Journey. Fight and find another side. You may have absolutely nothing to lose by waiting it out. And you will find you in the aftermath – broken or not. The self you discover post emotion, observe him or her. When backing off to see with neutral eyes, compassion and empathy come to the surface and remind you of your own humanity. Stay. Stay with the feeling and stay with the person you discover when you stick it out.
